Ameyoko is one of the many food and shopping districts in japanese cities, Sometimes they are under a roof, then they are called shotengai. They are a bit touristy at times, but mostly japanese people do their shopping in the small shops and stalls, which are all but lost in Germany. In those districts you have seafood areas, meat areas, restaurant areas, hardware stores for kitchen and household stuff and of course a couple of kombinis.
Ameyoko essentially runs parallel to the railway southeast of Ueno station and I wanted to visit it, because in one Youtube video a guy told of a certain stall belonging to a beef wholeseller where you can eat deep fried wagyu meat balls (menchi) for a very cheap price.

This dildo advertisement was about the most explicit thing I have seen.
It is not like hentai jumps at you at every corner. |

A wagyu menchi for only 2,50€. Can that be good? |
 |
Oh yes, it can! Juicy, meaty, lots of onions, herbs and spices, the fat from the beef melting in your mouth. |

Plastic food symbolizing the menu of a restaurant.
Funny enough it looks pretty much EXACTLY like the real thing you can eat here.
No false advertising! |

There are even courses in Tokyo you can take as a tourist and learn how to do this stuff. I find it amazing. |
